On Tuesday, Sept. 6, Netflix announced that it has given the green light to seasons 3 and 4 of "Narcos," its Golden Globe-nominated biographical crime thriller.

The news allowed fans of the series to finally breathe a sigh of relief. The ending of the second season of "Narcos," which dropped last week, had left viewers, who had binge-watched season 2, fearing that the series had reached its conclusion.

The first two seasons of "Narcos" followed the life of the famed Colombian drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar, who died in 1993 in Medellin. Escobar was played by Brazilian actor Wagner Moura who had earned a Golden Globe nod at this year's awards ceremony for his work in the series. While the first season of the Netflix original series chronicled Escobar's rise, season 2 saw his fall and eventual death. The "Narcos" season 2 finale thus prompted questions about the show's future.

Fortunately, Netflix has confirmed that "Narcos" will continue beyond Escobar and Moura, just as "Narcos" executive producer Eric Newman had recently told various media outlets. In a recent series of interviews, Newman spoke about "Narcos" season 2 and the possibility of the show continuing on despite Escobar's and Moura's exits.

"This show has always been about cocaine," Newman told Entertainment Weekly. "We purposely did not call the show Pablo Escobar or Medellin."

"Narcos is about cocaine and cocaine continues beyond Escobar," he said in a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter.

Speaking with THR, Moura spoke about saying goodbye to his role as the narco-terrorist, saying: "I feel relieved. I feel that I'm free."

The actor revealed that he will not be acting over the next year and will, instead, focus on directing, as he feels that any role he takes on will have the influence of Escobar.

"I need some time to really get rid of the whole thing, it's great to move on," the actor explained. "But I look at these past two years and I look at the series with a lot of love and pride. I'm really happy and proud of what we did," he added

Netflix has not announced the official release date nor the episode counts for seasons 3 and 4 of "Narcos."
