NBA team news: Warriors slam trade talks about Thompson
With all the trade talks surrounding the team early in the season, it appears that all is well with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are expected to be clear favorites for the championship. They headed into the new season with the biggest player in last year's free agency class, Kevin Durant.
With Durant in tow, the Warriors have Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry in the lineup for a scary group of players looking to win the championship.
However, it is not the dream start everyone thought it would be. In their first game, the Warriors were trashed by the San Antonio Spurs and Thompson looked like the odd-man out.
Talks are circulating that the team is looking to trade Thompson. He may be unhappy about his situation as he has gone down the pecking order when it comes to being the floor leader.
However, with all the talks coming their way, it appears that the Warriors are shooting down rumors that Thompson is on his way out of the team.
The Warriors have bounced back impressively, and are currently at 8-2, behind only the Los Angeles Clippers in the standings.
After a poor start to the season, Thompson has apparently picked up his pace as his shots are better. He is currently averaging 18.8 points per game this season. More importantly, his shots are now falling as he has returned to his career average of shooting between 45 to 46 percent from the field.
His three-point shooting still do not meet the averages he is used to, but he has improved and is now draining 32 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.
The Warriors hit a rough patch as they were trying to get their chemistry together. It is likely to happen with four stars in the team, but as of the moment things are okay in Dub City.
