NBA Trade Rumors 2016: Kevin Durant may prefer to be a free agent; New York Knicks waiting?
The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant is coping up with their team's loss following their failed bid to the NBA Championship this year. While it is surely a mind-numbing experience for the players to go through this experience, it is something that even the biggest NBA superstar should be familiar with. However, as the offseason kicks in, Durant will be faced with another important decision for the future of his career as he is reportedly weighing his options to be a free agent.
If ever Durant chooses to be in free agency, there are a lot of teams out there willing to offer a satisfying amount of bucks to have him. The Inquisitr reported that the New York Knicks is focused on getting Durant to their team. There are a few names in the summer's NBA free agency season such as Dwight Howard and Jeremy Lin that are possible to be recruited by the Knicks, but it is Durant who is reportedly considered as their priority.
According to ESPN, Durant has already been considering to go in free agency for the upcoming season, from the very day that the Thunders lost Game 7 against the rising Golden State Warriors. The sports publication claims that even though Durant does not want to reveal his plans in front of their team's fans, free agency is already at the top of his head. Free agency will be good for him as there will be a lot of teams that are ready to take him and offer big money.
Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, and Washington Wizards all expressed interest to sign in Durant, Hofmag reported. Even his team's great rivals in West Conferences such as the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are willing to take him, which is an indication of Durant's skill and dedication that he has always exhibited over the years.
Still, Durant still has to think things through as he still does not know which teams will be giving the offers.
"We will figure it out. I will talk to my agent, my best friend and my dad, just talk to those three guys and get some advice from other people. But for the most part, I will talk to them in the next couple of weeks. I don't even know where my mind is right now. I can't think about what is going to happen in a month. I'm just thinking about what we've all been through as a team and embrace my brothers right now," Durant revealed in a statement after Game 7 via Inquisitr.
