NBA trade rumors: DeMarcus Cousins is off the trade market; Kings plan to offer him a contract extension worth approximately $207 million

However, nobody was surprised when they saw DeMarcus Cousins' name in trade rumors. He's always been mentioned in trade rumors because of his on court and off court issues. But it looks like Cousins is going to stay with the Sacramento Kings for now.

CSN Bay Area has reported that Cousins would sign a contract extension with the Kings during the offseason. The team reportedly wants to re-sign their All-Star center for approximately $207 million.

"Under the new CBA, Cousins is in line for the league's designated player exception, which allows Sacramento to give their franchise cornerstone an additional five-years on top of his current deal, keeping him in a Kings uniform through the 2022-23 season," CSN Bay Area's James Ham said in his report.

"As an eligible designated player, Cousins can take home up to 35 percent of the team's salary cap, which is set at roughly $102 million for next season," he added.

The Kings has never made the playoffs with Cousins on the team, but it's going to be difficult to part with a player with his unique skill set. Cousins may be a center, but he actually has some guard skills. His ballhandling and passing ability are quite solid, and he can also stretch the floor with his outside shooting. Besides being a triple-threat on offense, Cousins is also a solid defensive player. He's a complete player.
