NBA trade rumors: Ricky Rubio looks on his way out of the Minnesota Timberwolves
Looking like the odd man out of the Minnesota Timberwolves once again, rumors are swirling that Ricky Rubio is in search for a new team.
Sources are linking the Wolves point guard to a new team as the franchise seems to have a lot of players filling up that position.
And with many accepting the fact that Rubio may have already peaked as a player, it appears that the Wolves see him as a surplus piece.
It does not help that the Wolves drafted point guard Kris Dunn as fifth overall in the recently-concluded draft; the Wolves now find themselves with Dunn and Rubio fighting for the starting spot on the team.
Furthermore, Zach LaVine is also a combo guard who can play the point, so all talks point to Rubio leaving the team.
According to Cheat Sheet, Rubio is one of the big players who may be in another team next year, already being linked with the Chicago Bulls at one time before talks ultimately fell off.
Hoops Habit stated that despite being seemingly unwanted in the Wolves, Rubio should have a number of reasonable teams to land on such as the Sacramento Kings, the New Orleans Pelicans and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Already in his sixth year this coming season, Rubio is yet to find a reliable offensive game, with his jump shot being one of the more unreliable ones in the league.
However, he makes up with it with his excellent court vision and leadership on the floor.
In five seasons with the Wolves, Rubio has averaged 10.1 points and 8.3 assists per game.
After only playing 22 games in the 2014-15 season, Rubio seems like he's healthy again as he played 76 games last year, starting them all.
Rubio still has three years left in his contract and is set to make $13.3 million in the coming season, gradually increasing by almost $1 million every year.
