NBA trade rumors: Star guards linked to a big move within the year
The new NBA season is upon fans but trade rumors are still circulating. This time, star point guards are being linked to big moves.
According to rumors, there might be a link between the Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves that should see their starting point guards moving around within the season.
John Wall is currently the star of the Wizards, but it has not been a secret that he is not satisfied with how things are in Washington. The Wizards are a good team, with Wall partnering with Bradley Beal to form a potent back court, but it has not translated to wins as expected.
They are constantly trying to battle for a position in the standings to make the playoffs. When they make it, they are normally a first-round exit team.
The lack of progress has frustrated Wall and it may now be time for him to move.
With this rumor, it appears that Wall can be sent over to the Celtics in a three-team trade, while the Wizards would pick up the Timberwolves' Ricky Rubio along with three first-round picks (two in 2018 and one in 2019.)
As for the Wolves, they are going to get Celtics' guard Isaiah Thomas and forward Jonas Jerebko.
This would certainly be a great start for Wall as he has a strong team to lead if he does land in Boston. The Celtics have longed for a leader and despite Thomas' surges last year, Wall is still clearly the better of the two.
As for the Wizards, they can start rebuilding with Rubio and the coming picks so they can find the players needed to make that push.
Finally for the Wolves, they still have a young core and will get to add some solid players along the way.
This is just mere speculation right now and nothing has yet to appear on paper. But it would be very interesting how the balance of power shifts in the teams if this move happens.
