Netflix December 2016 new movies, TV shows update: What's coming and going in the streaming service next month
The popular streaming service, Netflix, is preparing for the last stretch of the year with a handful of new movies and TV shows lined up for Dec. 2016. Despite these additions, several movies and shows will also be removed from the platform next month, which includes "Top Gun," "50 First Dates," "American Beauty," "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and "The Da Vinci Code," among others.
Among the latest movies that are coming to Netflix next month are "The Angry Birds Movie," "Wildflower," "Rainbow Time," "For the Love of Spock," "Marvel's Captain America: Civil Story" and "Swept Under," among others.
Several new shows will also debut in the streaming platform starting next month. Several of these are Netflix originals such as "Nobel," "The Break," "Merli," "Medici: Masters of Florence," "Captive" and season 2 of "Full House," titled "Fuller House."
Netflix also has a handful of originally produced movies slated to debut in December. One is the movie "Barry," which is about the young Barack Obama who just moved to New York City in 1981 to attend college.
Other Netflix original movies include "Spectral," "Reggie Watts: Spatial" and "Ricardo O'Farrill: Christmas Special."
Aside from that, several TV shows are also making their way to the streaming service. That includes the first season of BBC's "Versailles," a historical fiction show about the reign of King Louis XIV, and season 6 of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic."

The streaming service was first founded in 1997 and has a recorded 86 million subscribers as of Oct. 2016, with over 47 million subscribers based in the United States.
Netflix also produced shows for television, debuting "House of Cards" in 2013, then later launched many other shows exclusively available in its streaming platform like "Narcos," "Black Mirror," and the popular sci-fi thriller, "Stranger Things."
