New Orleans Pelicans trade rumors: Davis might be traded as Pelicans rebuild

It took nine games in the new NBA season but the New Orleans Pelicans finally won their first match.

The Pelicans struggled early, losing their first eight games despite excellent play from their superstar Anthony Davis. Many consider Davis as one of the best stars at the moment and the future of the league, but with the lack of a supporting cast, Davis can only go so far with the Pelicans.

Now there are talks that are considering Davis to move elsewhere if he wants to attain a certain amount of success in his career.

Since coming to the NBA in the 2012 draft, Davis has been excellent. His career averages are already impressive at 21.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, but at age 23, many are still tipping the big man for more success.

He has certainly shown that in the 2016-17 campaign as he averages 30.9 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in the first eight games, but ironically he has not led the team to a win during that span of time.

There is good news in Wisconsin as the Pelicans notched their first win against the Milwaukee Bucks, with Davis having a great game scoring 32 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and four blocks.

However, it is difficult for the team to stay afloat even with Davis in tow as the Pelicans desperately need someone to help him.

There have been talks that Davis might be moved elsewhere, with the New York Knicks as a rumored destination. But thinking about it, surrounding Davis with players like Derrick Rose and Carmelo Anthony would certainly help him improve and win games.

It appears that staying with the Pelicans might stunt Davis' growth and cost him valuable time to make playoff runs and possibly even MVP nods as he will not have enough wins to support the effort he is putting in.

If the Pelicans trade Davis, it would be for a lot of picks and for the future of the team, while accepting the fact that he has to flourish elsewhere.
