New Orleans Pelicans trade rumors: Pelicans looking to pick up All-Star center
At the moment, the New Orleans Pelicans are struggling to get wins. However, if rumors are to be believed, they may be in a big swoop that could change their fortune.
As of writing, the Pelicans are at the bottom of the Southwest Division with a 3-10 record.
Despite having Anthony Davis, one of the best players in the league, the Pelicans have found it extremely difficult to get wins as there is a shortage in players surrounding him.
However, if one rumor is to be believed, then he is likely to have a partner on the front court that would definitely make the Pelicans a stronger team. The Sacramento Kings star DeMarcus Cousins is linked to a move to New Orleans.
Many believe that Cousins' time with the Kings is over after the franchise has failed to put sufficient support around him. This has led to frustration on Cousins' part and now it appears that the only way for this to ever have a conclusion is if he moves out of the team.
Now it is understandable that the Kings will consider rebuilding if Cousins does move away. Even if they get another star, it is likely to be the same result as the Kings are also far from being a playoffs team.
In that case, the Pelicans may trade some young prospects and even draft picks to lure Cousins into joining forces with Davis. It should be a very compelling partnership as both are likely to play well beside each other and it will definitely spread the floor for other players to contribute.
Both players are undoubted leaders in their respective teams but if they join forces, one thing that should be overlooked is how the two stars complement each other.
Cousins has had issues with other players in the past, and it is unlikely that Davis would concede his top spot to someone coming in.
It should be interesting to see how this can unfold.
