New York Knicks roster news: What to expect from Courtney Lee
He may not be the biggest and most talked about name in the New York Knicks, but most would agree that Courtney Lee has a big role to play with his arrival at the Big Apple.
After playing half a season with the Charlotte Hornets, Lee was brought to New York after signing a four-year $48-million deal in July.
In his career, Lee averages 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 points per game. While it does not catch everyone's eye as these are not staggering numbers, Lee can offer a lot more.
According to Fan Sided, there are a lot of things that Lee can bring to the table in order to help the Knicks return as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
One of the biggest assets of Lee is his ability to spread the floor on offense thanks to reliable three-point shooting.
In his career, Lee shoots around 38 percent from the field which is one of the higher clips in the league. This number is based on rather limited shooting opportunities which should increase when he takes the starting guard role with the Knicks.
Another thing that the Knicks should be happy with is the versatility of Lee when it comes to the defensive end. Able to cover positions one to three, Lee can switch off opponents on defense and the team can be sure that they have things covered.
Finally, Lee can also be the one to help facilitate the offense when necessary.
At the moment, the Knicks have Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings as their point guards. While these are good names, Rose has always been injury-prone and may sit out around 10-15 games to rest and recover.
Meanwhile, Jennings is not a big facilitator as he is a score-first guard. That brings in Lee and his ability to facilitate when needed and that is needed with the Knicks as they continue their rebuild.
