'Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom' release date, news & update: Sequel gets a kingdom creation system, new features
Not much has been heard about the upcoming "Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom" since it was announced at the PlayStation Experience in December 2015. But Level-5 president and CEO Akihiro Hino recently confirmed that the video game will have "many new features," including a kingdom creation system.
"Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom," which is being developed for the PlayStation 4, follows the story of King Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum, a boy king who has been usurped from his castle, as he sets out to reclaim his throne and his kingdom. Roland, a visitor from a different world, accompanies and guides him on his mission. Along the way, King Evan makes both friends and enemies. He experiences numerous hardships, all of which contribute to his growth both as a person and as a ruler.
Hino recently spoke to Vandal about the upcoming role-playing video game and revealed that one of the numerous new features that they have added to "Ni no Kuni II" is a system for creating kingdoms.
"There will be many new features," Hino told the outlet, as translated by PlayStation Lifestyle. "From the fact alone that we moved from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4, it will not be a simple RPG, and will introduce a new system focused on creating a kingdom. So yes, there will be many differences," he continued.
During last year's PlayStation Experience, Hino confirmed that the sequel will be a "huge improvement" and that it will feature deeper stories and richer dramatic sequences than the first game.
Hino also spoke to Vandal about possible future Level-5 games for the recently unveiled Nintendo Switch. According to the Level-5 CEO, while they won't have any games for the new platform ready at launch, they intend on supporting Nintendo's new gaming system.
"We plan to make games for Nintendo Switch, but I think it's very important to find out the best way to get the most out of the console," he said. "For that reason, we won't have any titles at launch, but we'll work with it as soon as we figure out how to take advantage of it," he added.
"Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom" is currently in development. An official release date has yet to be announced.
