'NieR: Automata' latest news: Players complain about graphics bugs on newly released PC version

The PC version of "NieR: Automata" may have just been released last March 17, but gamers are already complaining about their monitors turning blank when they try to load the game.

A fix for Radeon graphics card users, however, was already recommended on Steam. According to the post on Steam, the combination of Windows 10 plus a video card from the Radeon RX400 series and Crimson ReLive Edition 17.2.1 can, in fact, cause the display to become white or become blank. The good news is that the fix is simple. Players only need to update the drivers for their graphics card.

However, some fans are also hoping for a patch to resolve the graphics issue. The PC version only loads cutscenes at 900p/30 frames per second, while its PlayStation 4 version loads cutscenes at 1080p/60 frames per second. This does not only compromise graphics resolution, but also the speed of which the game loads screens. However, Square Enix and Platinum Games have yet to issue a statement if they will be providing a patch to resolve the resolution issue.

Meanwhile, at the "NieR: Automata" panel at PAX East 2017, Yoko Taro, the director of "NieR: Automata," cautioned players from expecting downloadable content (DLC) from the game. He said that while they are interested in producing additional game content, they had neither the money nor the manpower to make meaningful story-based DLCs.

In related news, the companies which are behind "NieR: Automata" found themselves embroiled in a mild controversy in February when players discovered that an in-game item called "NIN64" was labeled as "trash that was picked up." Gamers blew up the issue, believing that the gaming company was taking potshots at rival company Nintendo. The item was subsequently taken out on the 1.03 update, along with bug fixes, such as an issue where the game prevents players from downloading all game files.

"NieR: Automata" features a dystopian world where aliens have forced humans to move out of Earth. The game's protagonists are androids that aim to reclaim the Earth from the robots built by the extra-terrestrial creatures. The game is playable on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
