Although the Nintendo NX is pure mystery, there are reports lingering with regards to when it will release. If they are anything to go by, it appears that gamers will see the next-generation sooner than they are expecting.

According to SquishTurtle, the Nintendo NX will be fully uncovered on Oct. 21, which is five years after the Nintendo Direct was introduced. It is through this broadcast that it is expected to be unveiled.

The site also believes that Nintendo usually likes to launch products around late October so the company could be doing the same thing for the Nintendo NX reveal.

However, with Nintendo still mum about the Nintendo NX and with nothing official yet in terms of the release date or even specification, readers are advised to take this with a pinch of salt.

Meanwhile, there is a new rumor going around that the mysterious console will be three to four times more powerful than the Nintendo Wii U.

According to Direct Feed Games, the Nintendo NX will be far superior to its predecessor in terms of Gigaflops power. In addition, the console is also expected to support Unreal Engine 4 and other modern game engines.

This means that porting games from the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One will no longer be as tedious as it was with the Nintendo NX all set up to do just that.

Nintendo will reportedly use the NVIDIA Pascal Tegra on the Nintendo NX and that it will be a hybrid type, which means that it can double as a handheld device and a standalone console.

The tipster said that 4K upscaling and high-dynamic range (HDR) imaging might not be a thing in the Nintendo product, which might be bad news for many.

Despite this, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot believes that having seen the Nintendo NX, the console will put Nintendo "back in the race."
