Nintendo NX release date news, specs: Console to feature camera?

Production trials for Nintendo NX are set for the third quarter of this year, with mass production kicking off in the fourth quarter. With such milestone a stone's throw away, new information about the Nintendo console has come to light.

Digitimes, who is a bit of hit-and-miss when it comes to tech predictions, hinted in its latest report that the Nintendo NX will feature a camera.

The site claims that 40 percent of the initial Nintendo production will be handled by Foxconn Electronics while Misumi Electronics and Hosiden will take care of the rest.

"Taiwan-based component makers will include chassis maker Foxconn Technology, NAND flash memory maker Marconi International, CMOS image sensor design house Pixart Imaging, and power supply maker Delta Electronics," part of the report said.

According to Trusted Reviews, the remark suggests that the Nintendo NX will end up with a camera. Unfortunately, Digitimes did not go into detail about this intriguing bit.

Either way, a camera will certainly make the Nintendo NX stand out from the competition. As the production nears, new details about this feature should emerge. Digitimes also teased the use of the Nvidia ARM-architecture Tegra X1.

In other related news, more and more games are being added to the Nintendo NX catalog despite the absence of details and updates about the console.

The latest title to make the jump is "Dragon Quest X." This was revealed by game producer Yosuke Saito during an interview with Famitsu.

"I think there will be an influx of new players that peaks with the launch of the PS4 and NX editions," Saito said as per IGN's translation.

"Up until then, rather than the incoming new players, we are doing our best for the people who are playing already," he added.

The Nintendo NX version of "Dragon Quest X" will be version 4, up from the current version – which is 3.3 – available in Japan.

With regards to the release of the Nintendo NX, it is expected to make a splash early next year.
