Nintendo Switch release date news: Bethesda pledges support; GameStop calls console a 'game changer'

Nintendo Switch continues to receive praises from big names. Bethesda Game Studio has just pledged its support to the console with director Todd Howard gushing about it.

In an interview with Glixel, the Bethesda exec said that he loves it, and even hailed it as "one of the best demos I've ever seen," if not the "best demo" he has witnessed at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).

"We're definitely going to be supporting it. It's the first time we've done something on Nintendo. If you don't count the old NES stuff. Home Alone. Or Where's Waldo?" he said.

In the first look trailer for Nintendo Switch, "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" was one of the games shown playable in the hybrid console. When asked about it, Howard said, "It's the same game on the TV and on the other screen."

Bethesda has not confirmed that it is bringing one of its most popular releases to the Nintendo Switch though, but there are already rumors that "Skyrim" will be a launch title for the console.

Howard's enthusiasm and excitement about the Switch suggest that Bethesda's support will be massive and that even its biggest games may finally be brought to Nintendo.

Bethesda is not the only one to show some love for the next-generation Nintendo console this week alone. GameStop CEO Paul Raines also speaks highly of the Switch.

"The Nintendo Switch, which I played at Nintendo a few weeks ago — we believe, could be another game-changer that will expand the audience for gaming," he said at an earnings briefing via GameSpot.

With all that said, the Nintendo Switch is looking more promising and could finally be the console that will make fans forget of the Wii U.

As far as the price goes, the Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter said in the latest episode of Pachter Factor that the Nintendo Switch's price could range from $199 to $299, but $249 could be "the right price."
