No Man's Sky PC, PS4 release date delay news update: Pushed back to Aug.12; PS4 version still set to arrive on Aug. 9

The release for "No Man's Sky" has been delayed yet again but this time, only the PC version will be launched at a later date.

Game developer Hello Games did not issue a press statement prior to the delay, with anticipating gamers only noticing after the release date has already been changed on the official website. A Neogaf member named Hip Hop shared a screengrab of the home page showing the altered date. From its initial Aug. 9 worldwide launch, the Windows PC version will now hit the shelves on Aug. 12. The PS4 version, however, remains unaffected and it will still be out on Aug. 9.

Earlier this month, "No Man's Sky"creative director and Hello Games founder Sean announced via Twitter that the game already went gold which means that it is officially completed. According to iDigital Times, the reason for the hold-up is most probably to make sure that the servers are stable when the game is launched. Since the anticipation for "No Man's Sky" has been continuously increasing, the developer might be expecting a "significantly greater usage than what was initially expected."

For those who are not in the loop, this is not the first time that the game encountered a delay. Murray previously explained in a press statement that the first delay happened to give the team more time in polishing the game. "This is a type of game that hasn't been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation," he said. "This is the hardest working, most talented team I've ever worked with, and I'm so proud of what we're doing. For all our sake though, we get one shot to make this game and we can't mess it up."

As of now, the game's first update is already under development at Hello Games.
