The expansive space exploration game, "No Man's Sky," had long been speculated to die a natural death as its developer, Hello Games, kept quiet despite several persisting issues that are experienced by many of its players.

Yesterday, Nov. 28, Hello Games issued a new 1.1 update known as the Foundation Update. The new update is the first of many other free updates, and is the largest patch in the game's history. Creator Sean Murray explained through a tweet saying, "We [Hello Games] hope you enjoy this first proper update. We didn't want to talk about anything in it until it was 100% certain."

Many new changes and a major addition had been brought by the update. For one, players can now build their own bases and claim a world or planet as their home. Players can build structures through the resources they acquire while foraging and gathering across alien planets.

Players can construct buildings and use them as shelters, storehouses and research centers. In case a player finds a new and better planet, the old one can be dismantled so it can be rebuilt in the newfound one.

Some may ask how a player can find their way back to a home planet when it's almost impossible to chart a mapped course in the big, expansive world of "No Man's Sky?" The new Foundation Update also introduces a Terminus Teleporter that is found in Space Stations. Players can now use this to teleport at will.

In addition, the update is also rumored to add a new land-based vehicle that looks similar to a buggy. This is a new tool that can help players explore and get around the planets in-game. This can help players acquire more resources that may help in building structures.

Hello Games on the other hand still needs to confirm this new item. The developer, however, teases that the Foundation Update lays the groundwork for bigger things to come in the game. This means that the developer might add more tools and modes to make gameplay even more interesting.

"No Man's Sky" is available on PC and PlayStation 4.
