Nokia may have lost its popularity ever since smartphones came but the Finnish multinational communications and information technology company isn't backing down without a fight. It is releasing a new smartphone dubbed as the Nokia D1C and this time it's said to run on Google's operating system.

According to reports, the Nokia D1C has been spotted on Geekbench already and now it has made its way to Chinese benchmark app, Antutu. Apparently, both benchmark websites showed the same results.

The listing revealed that the new smartphone is classified as a mid-range device and will be equipped under the hood with a Qualcomm 430 chipset along with an Adreno 505 GPU.

It also suggested that it will be featuring a full HD display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution. However, the exact screen size is not known yet. Reports also said that the Nokia D1C will be coming with 3 GB of RAM and will have an internal storage space of 32 GB.

The listing also indicated the device will be running on the Android 7.0 Nougat. For its camera specs, it's said to feature a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Reports also said that the handset received a multi-score of 3,299 and a single-core test result of 682 via Geekbench.

Other details about the device such as the battery life and the plans for a custom Android UI are still kept under wraps but it's expected to be revealed soon. Nokia is also currently working on other models. The company is also said to release two more Android smartphones by 2017 and they are expected to be top-tier smartphones.

Reports say that the Nokia D1C could be out before the year ends. Nothing is confirmed for now though so interested consumers will have to take reports with a pinch of salt.
