NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti release date news 2016: Graphics card to be released early 2017; cheaper version of Pascal Titan X?
NVIDIA has been successful in launching the Pascal-based GeForce GTX 10 series video cards this year. The company has released some high-end graphics unit processors (GPUs) over the past few months, with the recent one being the Pascal Titan X. NVIDIA's prime graphics card brings the players' gaming experience to a whole new feature, although getting the best possible video game graphics today would require one to give off a huge sum of money.
With the recent releases of the GeForce GTX 1060, 1070, and 1080, some people believe that the GTX 10 series has already shown the best out of the bunch, but it appears that NVIDIA has no plans to move on from their popular GPUs based on Pascal architecture. According to the latest rumors, NVIDIA is cooking up a new Pascal-based GPU that may rival the top-of-the-line features of the Pascal Titan X.
It is expected that NVIDIA's next big video card, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, will be released in the early months of 2017. Specifically, the rumors are rife that NVIDIA will showcase their latest Pascal-based GPU in January 2017. It is expected that the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be included in NVIDIA's presentation at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that will fall in January as well.
When NVIDIA first revealed the Pascal Titan X or GeForce GTX Titan X this year, people thought that it will be the best in the GTX 10 series that the company has in store. However, basing on the specs leak posted on Overclock 3D, the GTX 1080 Ti will be boasting features that surpass that of the Titan X. For one, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti has a greater boost and base clock speeds compared to the high-end variant of the Pascal Titan X. According to the leak, the GTX 1080 Ti's clock speeds are at 1.6 GHz and 1.5 GHz, a bit impressive than Titan X's 1.4 GHz and 1.5 GHz base and boost clock speeds.
Still, the Pascal Titan X still outclasses the upcoming GTX 1080 Ti in some way, like the Titan X having a higher processing speed of up to 11 teraflops, compared to the rumored 10.8 teraflops of the GTX 1080 Ti. Also, the Pascal Titan X is running on GDDR5X while the GTX 1080 Ti is said to make use of GDDR5. However, both GPUs have the same 12GB or video random access memory (VRAM).
As of now, tech enthusiasts think that the upcoming GTX 1080 Ti will be less expensive than the previously released GPUs from NVIDIA. It may also end up being a cheaper version of the Pascal Titan X, having almost the same features of the latter but keeping its price tag a bit reasonable for those who can't afford the pricey Titan X.
