NVIDIA Pascal GeForce GTX 1060 release date, specs news update: New graphics card faster than RX 480, drops July 14?
Details about the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 have leaked.
In alleged NVIDIA presentation slides obtained by video card leak specialist VideoCardz, the GeForce GTX 1060 is said to offer "the power of GTX 980 for every gamer" and be "much faster than an RX 480."
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 promotional images were published on Friday, July 1 by the website, which noted that the slides support earlier rumors that NVIDIA is launching the GeForce GTX 1060 on Thursday, July 7. The paper launch will reportedly be followed by the new graphics card's retail availability the following week, on July 14.
According to Hexus, NVIDIA may have brought the GTX 1060's launch forward in response to AMD's newly released Polaris-based RX 480 video card.
Based on the report by VideoCardz, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 will likely use a 192-bit memory interface and come in 3GB and 6GB GDDR5 configurations. Because of its 1280 CUDA cores and 1.7GHz boost clock, the new Pascal-based video card should offer a maximum compute performance of about 4.4TFLOPs.
In addition, the GTX 1060 will have a TDP of 120W, a memory speed of 2000MHz, and a memory bandwidth of 192 GB/s. The graphics card will have a 6-pin power connector and a standard array comprised of an HDMI 2.0B, three DisplayPort 1.4s, and a DL-DVI connector.
As for the pricing for the GTX 1060, a poster/OcUK staffer on an Overclockers forum suggested that "NVIDIA will not undercut AMD and they also will not price it under 970."
"The 1060 shall go in the gap the 980 once was with similar performance at around 300 quid because that gives NVIDIA a good lineup as 970 and 960 shall remain for a few more months which fill the 220GBP and 150GBP gaps," the poster added.
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 is expected to launch on July 7 and hit store shelves on July 14.
