Oculus Touch specs, price and latest news: comes with Oculus First Contact, Avatars and more
The world of virtual reality (VR) is becoming small. More and more companies are releasing their own VR products, including Oculus who have been reaping the success of their Oculus Rift. Now, they are launching the Oculus Touch for maximum VR experience.
Numerous VR gadgets are already available in the market, each has their own specs to boast. For instance, Google Daydream comes with a small remote while HTC Vive includes a wand. Oculus is definitely on the bandwagon when they introduced the Oculus Touch, which is geared to make Oculus Rift even more impressive.
The Oculus Touch has 54 games ready to be enjoyed, plus more free items when Touch is purchased. Some of the games include "Dead and Buried," which is recommended for players who want to have an action-packed shootout. The "Medium" is for artists who are geared toward creating three-dimensional objects while "Quill" is for painters.
Along with the Oculus Touch is the Oculus First Contact, described by the company as an "endearing robotic encounter that introduces you to Touch and hand presence with sci-fi '80s nostalgia." There is also a video presentation to demonstrate what the Oculus First Contact will offer.
The great thing about this is that future owners can check out Oculus Touch via a demonstration, available in 500 stories in the United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany and Canada. The official website of Oculus has listed several physical stores that offer a free demo.
Oculus Touch also comes with Oculus Avatars so that users can customize their own virtual-reality self. This will apparently encourage more social interactions in the virtual reality world. In fact, some games already have support for the Oculus Avatars, including "Toybox," "Kingspray" and "Sports Bar VR."
"Hand presence opens up new opportunities to interact with others while experiencing VR — and this is just the first step. We can't wait to see the next wave of immersive content made possible with Touch," the company wrote.
