For the Oklahoma City Thunder, the decision at the moment is to keep moving forward and build on the roster they have.

Revolving around their lone superstar Russell Westbrook, the Thunder are holding off inquiries from other teams as they believe they can tie down their point guard to be the franchise player.

According to Mass Live, the Western Conference team is still hoping that Westbrook will sign a contract extension that will keep him for a long time.

His deal will expire at the end of the coming year, and with free agency and the chance of big money coming up, the Thunder are just hoping that Westbrook will stay with the team as they build around him.

Chat Sports reported that the Thunder are also eyeing a move that will bring another star to the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Blake Griffin is said to have been in trade talks all summer and the Thunder are considered a viable landing spot for him.

Both Westbrook and Griffin have been linked to other teams like the Boston Celtics, but now speculations have risen that the two can play together in OKC.

The Thunder went from contender to a slight rebuilding team with the departures of Serge Ibaka and Kevin Durant.

Oklahoma City still have pieces with them as Victor Oladipo has joined the team, while Enes Kanter and Steven Adams are still very capable big men who can only help the team.

However, if they get Westbrook's assurance that he will stay as long as the team rebuilds around him, then the Thunder may be a contender again a few years down the line.

In his eight years in the league, Westbrook has averaged 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game, making him one of the most complete superstars in the league.

He is also a five-time NBA All-Star and is ready to enter his prime at 27 years old.
