'Once Upon a Time' season 6 spoilers: Ariel returns to help Hook and Emma
The Disney Princesses will reunite once again as JoAnna Garcia Swisher returns to reprise her role as Ariel/Little Mermaid in the second half of "Once Upon a Time" season 6.
Executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly that Ariel will be back for at least one episode when the series returns in March. "Ariel returns and meets Princess Jasmine (Karen David) as they join Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) on an adventure as he and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) face a daunting challenge that requires a big time princess team-up," the executive producers stated.
The actress also confirmed her return to the fairy tale drama series through a Twitter post.
Ariel was last seen helping her legendary enemy Ursula (Merrin Dungey) finally have her own happy ending by paving the way for the latter to be reunited with Poseidon (Ernie Hudson) in season 4.
While Emma and Hook get to enjoy the help of the two princesses, other Storybrooke heroes will also have their own struggles when the series returns for remaining episodes of season 6.
Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) and Belle (Emilie de Ravin) must face the dangers in the Dark Realm to save their son Gideon (Giles Matthey) from the clutches of the Black Fairy (Jaime Murray).
On the other hand, Hook must also work with David (Josh Dallas) to find Emma and Regina (Lana Parilla) in the dream realm to rescue them. They also have to make sure that the prophecy of Emma's death will not be fulfilled. Yet time will not be David's friend, since he has to take his turn being under the sleeping curse with his wife, Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin).
The upcoming episodes are also expected to reveal the reason why the grown-up version of Gideon has to kill Emma based on the prophecy.
ABC will air the midseason premiere of "Once Upon a Time" season 6 on Sunday, March 5.
