'One Piece' chapter 839 spoilers, plot news: Sanji clashes with family, finds out about cloning lab

Sanji's intense fascination for the female body has always been a source of much comic relief for "One Piece," the long-running manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. But he has also proven on many occasions that this fascination is more than just skin-deep.

The 839th chapter of the "One Piece" manga saw the prodigal prince of the Germa Kingdom clash with his family when he stood up for Cosette and the many benefits of potatoes. After all, if there's anything at all that Sanji cared for more than women, it's food.

When his older brother, Niji, refused to finish his food and then proceeded to throw a plate angled at Cosette's face, Sanji broke off from the charade of having to dine with his family. He then slammed the plate away and tasted the food that slopped to the floor in the process.

His family chastised him for rubbing elbows with the commoners. Sanji, however, retorted how ashamed he was to be associated with a family who could not appreciate a warm meal and who would dare raise their hand on a woman.

His father, Judge, shot him down with a threat — that if he kept going against the family's will, especially his obvious refusal to go through with his upcoming political marriage to Charlotte Pudding, the entire Vinsmoke family would destoy everyone he ever cared for, starting with the captain of the Cook Pirates, Zeff.

Zeff served as a father figure to Sanji after the then 8-year-old Vinsmoke prince renounced his family and ran away. Sanji reminisced about his years apprenticing for Zeff, from whom he had learned his remarkable skill for cooking. Sanji silently walked away, defeated and seemingly resigned to his imminent fate.

Sometime later, Sanji found Cosette bleeding in the hallway. Her beautiful face was battered beyond recognition. His anger was further fueled by Yonji's offer to take him to Niji to exact his revenge.

But Yonji took him to a secret laboratory instead, the one that Yonji said they had both tried to get into when they were younger. The place turned out to be a breeding ground for dozens of Germa 66 clones, each contained inside a liquid-filled compartment. The sight of it shocked Sanji but fans of the manga would have to wait until the next installment to find out Yonji's intention behind bringing Sanji to this room.

Reddit discussions about "One Piece" chapter 839 are mostly centered on how Sanji will avenge Cosette's beating. Some fans are even speculating that it may not have been Niji who did it, but someone totally unexpected like Sanji's sister, Reiju. One sharp-eyed Redditor even pointed out how Sanji's eyebrows went in the opposite direction than the rest of his family, further emphasizing how different he really is from the Vinsmokes.

Meanwhile, GameNGuide speculated that Sanji may have recognized the Germa 66 clones as someone he knew, which would account for the amount of surprise he showed when he saw them.
