'One Punch Man' season 2: 2017 launch expected; Madhouse to wait for more material?
"One Punch Man" season 2 has been made official, but a release date is yet to be announced. However, fans can count on the anime returning next year.
According to Japan Today, the fall television programming in Japan is all set and "One Punch Man" is not part of it, making it likely to premiere next year.
A specific premiere date for "Once Punch Man" season 2 should be revealed in the months to come although it is being said that it will have 19 episodes.
This means that it will be longer than the first season, which only had 12 episodes. This also suggests that it will cover more chapters of the story.
The freshman run of the anime covered all seven volumes of the manga by ONE and Yusuke Murata. There are only 11 volumes available.
This means that if Madhouse Entertainment will keep the pacing it had with the first season, "One Punch Man" season 2 might take a while to complete as the studio will wait for new material to feature.
However, it is still expected that an early 2017 airing is in the cards. There is no information to corroborate on that though so fans will have to wait for the official word.
With regards to the plot, "One Punch Man" season 2 is expected to see Saitama battle stronger enemies. This means that his battles this season will take longer than a single punch.
It is being said that he will meet his most fearsome foe yet—Garou. At the moment, he is the only one who has the capacity to survive a punch by Saitama, which should have knocked out weaker opponents.
With that said, "One Punch Man" season 2 might actually see Saitama challenged by an opponent for the first time as his superior strength has prevented him from experiencing the joys of a full-on battle.
