OnePlus 4 release date rumors: Device to boast AR/MR dual camera? Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 to reportedly power it up
The reports and leaks about the OnePlus 4 show that it is poised to be a true flagship killer. The latest buzz from Weibo suggests that it will feature augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) capabilities.
The device will reportedly come with a dual camera setup with AR/MR technology. This is the same thing that Apple is working to incorporate in the iPhone.
Based on what the Cupertino-based giant's vision of the technology, the OnePlus 4 users will have the ability to point the device to a real-world object and the camera will recognize it.
As for mixed reality, it is the technology to merge the real world with a virtual one to create unique visualizations. This should allow the OnePlus 4 camera to somehow bring together digital objects and real ones or even have them interact.
With regards to the other specifications and features expected of the OnePlus 4, the same Weibo leak claims that the smartphone will offer 128 GB of storage, which is double the space on the OnePlus 3.
The RAM will reportedly be at 8 GB RAM although there will be a 6 GB variant as well. On the processor side, the OnePlus 4 is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 or 835, which was announced a few days ago.
To be manufactured by Samsung, the latter will be the first mobile processor from Qualcomm to be built on 10-nanometer technology.
"Samsung's new 10nm FinFET process, for instance, allows up to a 30 percent increase in area efficiency with a 27 percent improvement in performance or up to 40 percent less power consumption compared to the previous version. These process improvements, combined with a more advanced chip design, can create significant battery life enhancements," Qualcomm writes on its website.
This should make the OnePlus 4 the one to watch. To make it more premium, OnePlus is reportedly using a 5.3-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution, a glass body and a 4,000 mAh battery pack.
The OnePlus 4 is expected to be released in June or July next year.
