'Orange is the New Black' season 4 release date, plot spoilers: Piper Chapman will try to find herself amid jail overpopulation
"Orange is the New Black" will see Piper Chapman's (Taylor Schilling) journey and struggle to "desperately" try and find herself as more troubles, fights and arguments and greater tension ensue in the Litchfield Penitentiary where overcrowding will be the newest obstacle.
Schilling recently talked to Metro and described the nature and development of her character Piper who is imprisoned for smuggling drug money. She also hinted at a tenser season 4. She said that trying to be oneself is something heroic and that this is what anti-heroine Piper has been doing. Schilling believes that her character will be able to succeed at figuring out who she is, the reason why the actress appreciates the role she portrays.
Meanwhile, season 3 star Ruby Rose who plays Stella Carlin will not be returning to "Orange is the New Black" for season 4 since her character was moved to maximum security prison outside of Litchfield's custody. Even if she does come back, it will not be for a lot of episodes.
It cannot be ascertained if fans will be seeing more of Natasha Lyonne's character Nicky Nichols whom viewers hardly had a glimpse of during a significant part of the third season because she was put away after she was caught keeping drugs. Should Nichols return to season 4, she will certainly make more new enemies.
With regard to Laura Prepon's character Alex Vause whose fate was left unclear in the season 3 finale episode after having been violently confronted by henchman Aydin, she will find herself well and alive in season 4, although constantly looking over her shoulder and trusting nobody. The almost fatal encounter with Aydin will make her paranoid and mistrustful.
"Orange is the New Black" season 4 will also introduce new faces in its roster of characters, including Brad William Henke, Mike Houston, and Kelly Karbacz. Actress Jolen Purdy will also join the cast for a role that has yet to be known. Meanwhile, fans will see more of Lea DeLaria's Big Boo and Jackie Cruz's Marisol Flaca Gonzales both actresses have just been promoted to become series regulars.
The fourth season of "Orange is the New Black" is slated to debut on June 17 on Netflix.
