The controversial ending of "Orange is the New Black" season 4 shocked fans and left viewers with emotional cliffhanger. But they are virtually unprepared for the latest false rumor making rounds online. The report claims that the show has been taken off-air and will not be renewed for the fifth time.

The report was traced back to TMZ Uncut's published article stated that Netflix decided to cancel season 5 after 78 employees allegedly failed to report for work. However, the news has been largely dismissed as a false rumor considering that the producers have already secured a deal with the live streaming giant to extend the series to three more seasons.

As reported by Snopes, TMZ Uncut apparently has no connection with the official TMZ celebrity gossip and news site. The media outlet also confirmed that the website has been flagged as a fake news hub with links to another fake news generator "Celebritricity" which claims that "people don't want to be informed, they want to be entertained."

So far, Netflix hasn't paid any attention to the swirling rumor that nearly gave every "Orange Is the New Black" fan a heart attack over the alleged non-renewal of the prison-themed comedy-drama series. To date, the company has only mentioned a 2017 release of the upcoming season with no fixed air date. However, rumors point to a possible Netflix premiere on June 9, 16 or 23 of 2017.

Meanwhile, speculations are rife about more violent riots in season 5 with many more deaths as a result. As refresher, season 4 featured the death of Poussey (Samira Wiley) after a riot broke out in Litchfield. This triggered widespread fear about the deaths of many more of fans' beloved characters in the series, Asia Starz reported. With the passing of some characters comes the reappearance of previous guest stars, the report added.
