'Orange Is The New Black' season 5 release date, spoilers news: Fifth season out in 2017? What's next for Piper and Alex?

"Orange Is the New Black" season 4 lived up to its reputation as one of the series' most controversial seasons thus far by ending with several cliffhangers to whet fans' appetite coming into season 5.

For one, the season 4 finale saw Daya (Dascha Polanco) aiming a gun at Humphrey (Michael Torpey), and now the burning question is, will she pull the trigger? Moreover, it's noteworthy to anticipate how Poussey's (Samira Wiley) death would affect Taystee (Danielle Brooks) and girlfriend Soso (Kimiko Glenn).

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the two actresses teased on how their characters will be coming into the fifth season.

"It's war. Taystee has nothing to lose, she's lost everything that she cared so deeply about. It's time to fight. I think that's where we will see Taystee go," Brooks told THR.

Meanwhile, as far as Soso is concerned, Kimiko Glenn teased that things would be a bit harder for the character in the upcoming season.

Fans would also have to tune in to "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 to find out if Judy King (Blair Brown) will make it alive in Litchfield or if she would be released. If you as Brown, though, she would rather have Judy commit another crime so she could stay behind bars forever.

There are reports that it might take some time, at least a year, for the production of "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 to complete. If that were the case, then fans would have to wait until 2017 before they can watch the fifth installment.

As for shippers of Alex (Laura Prepon) and Piper (Taylor Schilling), there's a possibility that their season 4 experiences would serve to strengthen their relationship further. Prepon herself dished on what fans could expect from the two in "Orange Is the New Black season 5 when she granted THR an interview.

"We've seen Alex and Piper go through so many things, but it's always grounded in the fact that they do really love each other ... It's this whole push-pull thing and that's not going to change anytime soon. I don't know if people like that can stay together for too long. But whatever comes in season five will be great. You just can't control where your heart goes," she said.

It looks like fans of the show have a lot to watch out for when "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 returns to Netflix sometime between June and July 2017.
