Orlando Magic trade rumors: Magic may give up Ibaka for Thompson
Despite adding new names to the team, the Orlando Magic are still unable to attain the success most are assuming they would get with a young core and talented additions.
At the moment, they are below the .500 mark at 3-5 and are third in the Southeast Division in the Eastern Conference.
With this, there are rumors that the team is trying to trade a player they just recently signed after poor performances as of late. Talks are linking Serge Ibaka possibly moving out of the Magic to reunite with Kevin Durant in the Golden State Warriors in return for sharpshooter Klay Thompson.
This proposed deal hopes to help the Magic give some direction as they would have a superstar on the offensive and a guy who seems to be willing to carry the load for a team.
Thompson has not been playing the same way he normally did in the past seasons and many are linking this to him being unhappy with the Warriors.
A reliable scorer and defender, Thompson averages 18.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, while shooting at an impressive 45 percent from the field and 42 from beyond the arc.
His numbers at the moment are not up to par, especially his three-point shooting, but with a player the calibre of Thompson, one can expect him to rise up soon enough.
Meanwhile, Ibaka is a defensive stalwart but is limited on the offensive end. He is currently averaging 13 points per game, which is better than his career average of 11.6, but his rebound numbers are down and he seems to be in an odd fit with the Magic.
If he gets to go to the Warriors, he will undoubtedly be used for his defensive prowess as the Warriors are one of the most high-octane offensive teams at the moment.
It should be very interesting how this deal falls through, if there is any truth to it.
