As we count down the days to the 87th Academy Awards airing on Feb 22, 2015, countless predictions have been made as to which of the nominated movies from 2014 will win big.

Various methods have been used to predict the winners – from using actual math algorithms based on past years' winners in various awards, to using online chatter and media predictions. Other interested parties just use their own experience and the trend this year from other awards-giving bodies.

These are the frontrunners for some of the major awards:

Best Picture: "Birdman"

There seems to be a consensus that "Birdman" will win as Best Picture. However, having said that, both "Boyhood" and "Whiplash" are still in the running.

Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne, "The Theory of Everything"

Redmayne is the clear favorite to win the Oscars in this category, but Michael Keaton might just win this for "Birdman." A dark horse in this category is Bradley Cooper for "American Sniper."

Best Supporting Actor: J. K. Simmons for "Whiplash"

Best Actress: Julianne Moore for "Still Alice"

In the supporting actor and actress categories, the predictions seem unanimous for Simmons and Moore to win the Oscars.

Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette for "Boyhood"

This category clearly belongs to Arquette, although there is some speculation that Stone's performance in "Birdman" just might earn for her the Oscars.

Best Director: Predictions seem split between Alejandro G. Iñárritu for "Birdman" and Richard Linklater for "Boyhood"

Best Adapted Screenplay: "The Imitation Game" leads, but "Whiplash" is a very close second.

Both "The Imitation Game" and "Whiplash" figure prominently in many predictions, although "The Theory of Everything" won the BAFTAs.

Best Original Screenplay: Toss-up between "Grand Budapest Hotel" and "Birdman"

"The Grand Budapest Hotel" won the WGAs and BAFTAs because of a technicality disqualifying "Birdman." However, "Birdman" won the Golden Globes and Critics Choice.

Best Animated Feature: "Hot to Train Your Dragon 2"

While many have been questioning the non-inclusion of "The Lego Movie" as a nominee in this category, "How to Train Your Dragon 2" is the front-runner, with "Big Hero 6" not far behind.

What about you, do you agree with the above predictions? What are your bets? Stay tuned for the 87th Academy Awards ceremony, airing on ABC on Feb 22, 2015 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Neil Patrick Harris will host the ceremony.
