"Outlander" season 3 has reportedly cast its very own Mary McNab. According to a new leak, "Doctor Who" star Emma Campbell-Jones was cast to play the role.
The fan Twitter account, Outlander Daily, shared a screenshot of the online curriculum vitae (CV) of the actress, which indicates her involvement in the new season.
Starz is yet to make the formal announcement of the inclusion of Campbell-Jones in "Outlander" season 3 so fans should take this report with a pinch of salt until the network makes it official.
For readers of the books where the show is based, the arrival of Mary is one that is exciting as it leads to major changes especially in the life of Jamie (Sam Heughan).
Spoiler Alert! The following contains plot details about "Outlander" season 3. Read at your own discretion.
In the books by Diana Gabaldon, Mary appears in "Voyager," on which "Outlander" season 3 is based. Jamie helps her and her son, Rabbie, break free from her abusive husband, Ronald, who appeared in the first season played by Richard Jack.
Ronald does not take this interference lightly, leading him to make sure that Jamie rots in Wentworth Prison, thus turning him over to the Watch.
Meanwhile, as the filming for "Outlander" season 3 continues, lead star Catriona Balfe took the time to talk about the new season in an interview with Gold Derby.
Before the highly anticipated reunion of Claire (Balfe) and Jamie, "Outlander" season 3 will first see the star-crossed lovers go on with their lives in separate time periods.
Balfe said that the lovers will be apart during "the first couple of episodes," which will flesh out her character's relationship with her daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies).
"I think is really nice as you get to see that relationship really solidify," she explained as she bout Claire's stay in Boston in "Outlander" season 3.
It looks like the filming is still in Scotland. They will eventually head to South Africa to film the Caribbean scenes for the new season.
"Outlander" season 3 premieres early next year on Starz.
