The release of the sequel of the first-person survival horror video game, "Outlast," has been moved to 2017. The announcement came from its game developer Red Barrels who posted an official statement on the company's Facebook page.

"We had to make a difficult decision recently. After weighing our options we've decided to postpone Outlast 2's release until Q1 of 2017," the game developer wrote. "We want you to know that we listen to your feedback, we see your excitement and we know you care about our work. Our mission as an indie studio is to deliver to you the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling experiences possible. That's why we're taking just a little bit more time to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve."

The game developer also said that they are committed to bring the best video game to their fans who have been waiting patiently for the second installment to come out.

"Thank you for understanding. We promise Outlast 2 will scare the crap out of you," the company added.

The highly anticipated "Outlast 2" was originally scheduled to be released in fall 2016.The game developer has already put out a game demo that showcased its exciting gameplay mechanics and new environment.

When the original game came out in 2013, it was a surprise hit and immediately fans and critics started talking about its possible sequel. Although it did not get that much media attention, Red Barrels announced the game to be released in 2016.

With its latest delay, it is expected to disappoint many fans who are excited to get their hands on the new game.

As of the moment, the game developer has yet to confirm the specifics of the release. "Outlast 2" will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Mac.
