A trailer for the game "Overlord III" was released recently and it showcased more of what players can expect in the upcoming edition.

Among the tidbits that were offered was the news that the game would be different in scope from the previous two versions and it would be a four-player game in a top-down format.

Even though the format is new in the game, it is not entirely unexplored as the version that was released for the Nintendo 3DS and titled "Overlord: Minions" followed the top-down format.

The trailer went over the events in the previous two games and indicated that the upcoming "Overlord III" would be focused on four baddies. A brief peek on them was offered in one scene. There were also indications that top-down dungeon crawling would be included. This was briefly seen in the gameplay footage.

More information about the game was released on Thursday, April 23.

"Overlord" was first released in 2007 while its sequel "Overlord II" landed in 2009 along with "Overlord: Dark Legend," which was released for the Wii, and "Overlord: Minions" for 3DS."

Since then the development of the next installment in the gaming series was put on hold. Many gamers thought that the shift to the new gaming consoles the PS4 and Xbox One was the reason.

In 2013, Triumph Studios, the developer of the game, also stated that "volatility" in the transition to the next generation consoles had caused the production of the game to be put on ice.

However, the developer indicated that it had completed a lot of work on the project and that the game would appeal to fans.

GameSpot said with the next generation consoles released and being increasingly adopted, it appears that "Overlord III" will be offered for them.
