It's the most wonderful time of the year, for "Overwatch" gamers, at least.

After reports which suggested that the video game "Overwatch" would be having a Christmas or holiday-themed update, Blizzard Entertainment has pretty much confirmed the rumors themselves by posting a cryptic promotional post on Twitter on Dec. 6.

"You're invited," Blizzard stated in a tweet. The post also includes an animated gif which shows a snow-capped version of the map of King's Row. Reports suggest that part of the update will include modifications of the existing maps in the game.

"It's the most wonderful time of the year, and we hope you'll join us for some holiday cheer!" the virtual card on the GIF read. The invite is also accompanied by the date Dec. 13, which is possibly when the holiday-themed update will go live.

Similar to the Halloween Terror and Olympic-themed Summer Games updates, part of the upcoming event may also include Holiday-themed skins, emotes, voice lines, highlight intros, and sprays. This may be wrapped up in an exclusive loot box which gamers can only acquire during the upcoming event.

Fans who would want to purchase the specially-themed items should start saving up their credits as early as possible if they are to afford the exclusives offered during the Christmas event. During the Halloween Terror event, "Overwatch" players may recall that the rare legendary skins for each character could be purchased for a huge value of three thousand gold each.

Rumors of a Christmas update surfaced when data miners sifted through the files of "Overwatch" and found a range of sound clips, which included a more festive version of the game's theme tune. The sound clips also included a range of new voice lines between characters which were speculated to arrive in a future update.

"Overwatch" is currently playable on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
