"Overwatch" is releasing a new character soon, but it might not be the previously rumored Doomfist.

Despite speculations that Doomfist will be the shooter's upcoming hero, it seems that nothing is set in stone yet. "Overwatch" director Jeff Kaplan released a statement in the game's forum thread, and though he confirmed that they are currently working on new heroes, the 24th character is "not who you think it is."

It has been the general assumption that Doomfist would be the 24th hero after "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" actor Terry Crews expressed his interest to voice the character. However, Kaplan seems to be telling fans that this will not be the case. Further down the thread, Kaplan was asked why a number of existing characters haven't received new emotes. He explained that while they want to do as many improvements as they can, there are some aspects that have to be prioritized.

"We're always asking ourselves 'what would make the biggest impact for the most people' when we prioritise," he wrote. "Right now, we feel like introducing a new hero to the line-up would be more impactful to the game. Hope that makes sense," he went on to say.

Unfortunately, Kaplan didn't give away any clue on who that new hero will be. Although, Eurogamer pointed out that a possible candidate might be a character known as "Greek." Last month, voice actor Alex Malaos updated his CV, and it mentions that he voiced a character in "Overwatch," with the same name.

YouTuber TheKingFenrir reached out to Malaos about the report, and he denied that he's voicing the new character.

"I meant to say that the lines that I was saying were in Greek, but I was not a Greek hero... I was just saying some random background lines, you know, like stuff you would hear on a walkie-talkie or from a random secondary character. I have no idea about how they intend to use that (IF they decide to ever use it)," an excerpt from Malaos' response reads (via PCGamesN).
