Panasonic has unveiled its newest Lumix flagship camera — the GH5. The new camera which is based on the Micro Four Thirds system standard is touted to be the first to offer 4K video recording at 60 frames per second (fps) and 6K photos at 30 fps. This ensures that photographers will always be able to capture the perfect shot at the exact moment.

The Panasonic Lumix GH5 features a 20.3-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor which has 25 percent more pixels compared to its predecessor, the 16.05-megapixel Lumix GH4. Despite removing the low-pass filter, the new camera is still able to produce clear and sharp images via the new Venus Engine image processor which analyzes every single pixel and processes them accordingly. This ensures precise and detailed pictures that are very natural looking.

Furthermore, Three-Dimensional Color Control detects and controls hue, saturation and brightness. The upgraded High-Precision Multi-Process Noise Reduction also boosts noise identification accuracy by up to four times. The camera is able to preserve details even after noise reduction. Photos can be taken even at high-sensitivity ISO values of up to 25,600.

The new Lumix GH5 is equipped with a five-axis Dual Image Stabilizer (IS) to minimize handshake and blurring especially when during photo and video recording at 4K at 60 fps. The combined two-axis Optical IS and five-axis Body IS is able to compensate for uncontrollable, large movements.

To frame and view photos, the Lumix GH5 comes with a 3.2-inch OLED display with a 3,680K-dot resolution. The shutter is also durable for up to 200,000 releases.

In terms of design, the Lumix GH5 has a rugged magnesium alloy body with full die cast for the front and rear frame. Every component has been secured and sealed to ensure that the camera is not only splash and dustproof but can also withstand temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius.

The camera also comes with a double SD memory card slot and USB Type-C compatibility. There is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.

The Panasonic Lumix GH5 (body only) will be available for purchase in late March for $1,999.99.
