PlayStation Plus January 2017 free games news: 'Day of the Tentacle Remastered,' 'This War of Mine' and more available in the New Year
To help gamers ring in the New Year, Sony has announced the lineup of free games that will be made available in January 2017. Two new titles will be released for the PlayStation 4 (PS4), PS3 and the PlayStation Vita.
PS4 will get to enjoy "Day of the Tentacle Remastered" and "This War of Mine: The Little Ones." The first game is a graphic adventure title where three players will have to solve puzzles and travel through time in order to stop Purple Tentacle from taking over the world. It is also available as a cross-buy title for PS Vita. Meanwhile, the second war-themed video game shows players the experience of civilians during the Bosnian War. Players will have to scavenge for food, medicine and supplies, as well as make life-and-death choices.
"Blazerush," a vehicular combat video game from Targem Games, and "The Swindle," a stealth action title from Size Five Games, will be free for PS3 players. The latter is also available to cross-buy on PS4 and PS Vita.
Finally, PS Vita players also get two new games: "Azkend 2," a critically praised match-3 game, and "Titan Souls." In the second action-adventure title, players take on the role of a lone hero who is tasked to assemble the shards of the Titan Soul, the source of all life, in a quest for truth and power. "Titan Souls" is also available to cross-buy on PS4.
Aside from gaining access to free titles, a PS Plus subscription also allows players to enjoy multiplayer games online with friends, as well as access to exclusive deals and discounts. Furthermore, the fourth week of the PlayStation Network Holiday Sale is still ongoing so players can purchase recently released games like "Battlefield 1," "Dishonored 2," Skyrim Special Edition" and "Titanfall 2" at discounted prices.
Before the new lineup of free games arrives on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, PS Plus subscribers should not forget to take advantage of the games released this December as they will only be available for a few more days.
