Sony forges a partnership with a UK-based gaming merchandise company in order to create a stylish premium stand for the PlayStation VR.

According to Power Up Gaming, Sony has partnered up with Numskull in order to design and produce an official stand for the PlayStation VR. The created stand will reportedly feature a premium-quality obsidian head, a heavy chrome finish base, as well as an adjustable height mechanism with cable strap. Identified as an official Sony product, the stand also matches PlayStation's color scheme.

The PlayStation VR stand retails at around 30 pounds in the UK, which is equivalent to approximately $37 in the US. However, similar to purchasing the VR itself, PlayStation VR users may have a hard time tracking down a single unit at its recommended retail price.

Those who attempt to buy it through Numskull will be directed to the gaming merchandise company's partner Yellow Bulldog, only to discover that the allotted units are sold out. The PlayStation VR stand had run out within days since it was launched for selling.

At the moment, it is not clear whether or not the UK-based Numskull has plans to make the VR stand available in the US through an American retailer. Yellow Bulldog may allow for international shipping, but given that the item is selling rather quickly, it may be more lucrative to make the accessory available worldwide.

According to Game Rant, Sony's efforts to design and produce a premium accessory stand for the PlayStation VR reflect the company's confidence in the future of the VR system. Sony's VR headset is relatively more affordable for gamers who are interested in exploring virtual reality gaming, in contrast to more expensive competing systems such as the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.

Although sales of the PlayStation VR headset have been lower in 2016 than most experts expected, Sony's VR system is still expected to do well in 2017, considering highly-awaited games with VR feature like "Resident Evil 7" are on their way.
