Last week, rumors were rife that Niantic Labs was going to roll out an update to "Pokémon GO" bringing in more virtual critters wandering and waiting to be caught. As it turns out, when there is smoke, there is fire — at least in this situation, as the company just released an announcement which apparently proves it still continues to add more Pokémon.

The latest tease from the augmented reality game is that effective immediately, there will be a significant increase in Pokémon numbers "in parks and other outdoor locations in urban and rural areas." And while the tweak is a welcome surprise for everyone in the "Pokémon GO" community, the main benefactors of this news are the people from the suburbs and the countryside as it makes it easier for them to fill out their respective Pokédexes.

It is no secret that cities tend to get the upper hand in terms of the "Pokémon GO" gameplay with various PokéStops near each other. More so, with the announced partnership between The Pokémon Company and Starbucks and even Sprint, the said establishments are expected to serve as PokéStops. With this new update, those who do not have the luxury of going to these establishments for Pokémon-luring can take consolation that a lot of them are wandering around in any public spaces.

This rollout follows that of the announcement from Niantic Labs and The Pokémon Company that expands the list of pocket monsters that can be caught via the mobile title. "Pokémon Gold" and "Pokémon Silver" gamers have been thrilled to find out that some creatures will be the ones from the Johto region in the dual game. Although the announcement does not quite meet the expectation of a full second-generation Pokémon batch, those that have already been confirmed, such as Pichu and Togepi, were enough to have players buzzing with excitement.

On top of that, from Dec. 12 to Dec. 29, 10 a.m. PST, players all over the world have the chance to nab a limited edition Pikachu theme in line with the Holidays as he wears a bright red Christmas hat. Given that the normal yellow fur rodent has been quite a rare sighting, the special iteration will definitely be a great and unique addition to anyone's Pokédex.
