'Pokémon GO' latest news, update: New Year's holiday event accessible until Jan. 3
Niantic Labs recently launched the second part of their holiday update for the world-famous mobile game, "Pokémon GO."
Starting Dec. 31, 2016 until Jan. 3, 2017, Niantic will be making the Bronze, Silver and Gold boxes available for "Pokémon GO." According to its official website, the update will also be including new items such as incense, lure modules, lucky eggs, PokéBalls and Great Balls. These new items will be replacing previous freebies which were made available from Dec. 25 until Dec. 30 such as Special, Great and Ultra boxes.
According to Cinema Blend, the second special event is likely to appeal to loyal gamers who have yet to capture any rare Pokémon in "Pokémon GO," especially since Niantic has made additions of a few second generation Pokemon to the game.
However, interested players won't require the special boxes in order to improve their chances of capturing the new monsters or their evolved forms because Niantic has recently announced another event scheduled for their loyal gamers.
In addition to the recent update, from Dec. 30 until Jan. 8, the game's first partner and their evolutions will be showing up more frequently in-game. Based on another announcement from Niantic Labs, these include Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Vanusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartorle and Blastoise.
The game's lure modules will also be running for much longer during the event. From the original 30 minutes, the modules will be running for 60 minutes instead.
It was also previously reported that an Apple Watch version of the game has recently been made available for Apple Watch users. The features of the Apple Watch version of the game provides the convenience that cannot be provided by a smartphone, and it will surely conserve the battery life of iPhones.
"Pokémon GO" is an augmented reality game developed by Niantic Labs, which is currently available on both Android and iOS devices.
