Since its release earlier this month, the location-based augmented reality mobile game "Pokemon GO" has become so popular that it has even surpassed Tinder and Twitter in terms of downloads and app engagement.

And with millions of players hooked on the game, hundreds of "Pokemon GO" hacks, tricks, tips, and secrets have been uncovered and shared over the internet over the last couple of weeks.

Here are the top "Pokemon GO" cheats and hacks for both iOS and Android.

Hatch eggs faster

According to Los Angeles Magazine, players won't be able to hatch eggs faster by getting in their cars and driving somewhere. "Pokemon GO" is, after all, a game that encourages players to get up and get active. If a player is driving, the game will detect the car's speed, which is very different from the speed of a person walking or biking.

However, if a player is sitting in traffic, the car's constant stop-and-go could simulate actual physical activities like walking, which means that a player's eggs have a better chance of hatching.

Unlimited Incense and Lucky Eggs

Players can hack the timer on their Incense (which attracts Pokemon to their location) and Lucky Egg (which doubles all XP a player earns over 30 minutes), allowing them to basically use these two objects as much as they want.

According to Tech Insider, to do this, go to the phone's settings, open the date and time menu, and disable the phone's automatic time/date setting. Once the automatic function has been turned off, go to the phone's clock and wind back the time. The website suggests not turning the time back further than 30 minutes.

Once done, the time on the Incense or Lucky Egg will increase by how many minutes the phone's clock was turned back. Tech Insider notes that this hack works on both iOS and Android.

Get Pikachu as starter Pokemon

When a player first starts playing "Pokemon GO," three main starter Pokemon will spawn. These are Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbosaur. Players can then choose which of these Pokemon is their starter.

However, Forbes notes that there is a hack that enables players to choose Pikachu as their starter Pokemon. To do so, simply walk away from all three starter Pokemon. When they respawn, ignore them again. If a player does this enough times, a fourth Pokemon — Pikachu — will appear.
