'Pokemon Sun and Moon' release date news 2016: Official launch is Nov. 18 as new details about the game set to be announced on July 1
Mark your calendars, because July 1 will be a monumental day for fans who have been patiently awaiting further details about "Pokemon Sun and Moon."
Game Freak has already shared bits of information about the newest addition to the "Pokemon" franchise during the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), including its official release date. Nevertheless, it looks like they will be revealing the latest developments in the game since fans are encouraged to hang out on Twitter on July 1.
The official Pokemon Japan Twitter account tweeted that new information will be shared with fans starting 10 p.m. JST on July 1 or 6 a.m. PT, 9 a.m. ET, and 2 p.m. in the United Kingdom. Game Freak is keeping mum about the details that will be shared on that day, but fans are hoping that the information will be new and not something rehashed from the E3 announcements they made.
For now, what's certain is this game will feature the Sun and Moon legendaries – Solgaleo and Lunala. According to IGN, Solgaleo will come from the Pokemon Sun boxart and will be a psychic-and-steel type with full metal body ability. It will also boast of a new move called Sunsteel Strike. On the other hand, Lunala will be from Moon box and will be a psychic-and-ghost type with shadow shield ability. Lunala will display the new Moongeist Beam move.
Fans are hoping that Game Freak will reveal more characters and some new modes since only the Battle Royal feature was highlighted at E3.
In other related news, PC Advisor said that "Pokemon GO" together with the "Pokemon GO" Plus device will be released come July. The game will be available on mobile phones, and if what Nintendo confirmed at E3 pushes through, then monsters can be traded between "Pokemon Sun and Moon" and "Pokemon GO" players.
"At E3 2016, Nintendo confirmed it would be developing features to enable trading monsters, but these will come after the launch. There will also be some integration with Pokémon Sun and Moon," PC Advisor reported.
"Pokemon Sun and Moon" will be released officially for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS on Nov. 18.
