'Power Rangers' reboot release date and news: First look at the Red Ranger's weapon revealed
A lot of "Power Rangers" fans are expecting to get their first look at the movie when the New York Comic-Con (NYCC) starts later this week but Saban Brands has gone ahead and teased an image of the Red Ranger's Power Sword.
There's also an NYCC-exclusive promo image of a Red Ranger action figure from the movie. With the figure, fans can see exactly how he wields the sword. According to ComicBookMovie.com, only 1,000 pieces of this figure will be produced and fans who plan to buy it at the NYCC should go to the Bandai America booth #1628. The figure is worth $40.
Fans of the original "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" will remember that the Rangers' weapons all fuse together to become one big superweapon. Every episode saw them fuse their weapons and destroy their opponen. Then for some reason, the opponent grows into a giant creature and the Rangers have to take it out with their giant robot Zord.
While the Red Ranger uses a sword as his primary weapon, the others all have their own devices specific to their color. Pink makes use of a special bow and arrow, Black has a battle axe, Blue has some sort of sai that can be fused into a double-headed spear, and Yellow uses twin daggers.
Teaser posters have been released of each of the Rangers atop their gigantic Dinozords, but fans have yet to see them in their full glory. The Red Ranger commands the Tyrannosaurus Rex Zord, Blue has the Triceratops, Yellow has the Sabertooth Tiger, Pink has the Pterodactyl, and Black has the Mammoth.
Every episode not only had the weapons fuse, but the Dinozords would all fuse into a giant Zord as well. Fans can expect that the "Power Rangers" reboot will be paying homage to all of those classic moments.
The "Power Rangers" reboot is slated to hit theaters March 24, 2017.
