President Obama and Michelle Obama Romance Movie In The Works; Tika Sumpter To Play Michelle
The romance between Barrack and Michelle Obama is finally in the works to become a Hollywood movie, which will be titled "Southside With You." It will chronicle the events in the summer of 1989 when Barrack first asked Michelle to a date in Chicago's South Side.
The producers are still searching for the actor who will play young Barrack although they have already picked Tika Sumpter to play the role of Michelle Obama.
The movie will cover the day Michelle Robinson, now Michelle Obama, went out with young Barrack, who was then working for a law firm in Chicago. Michelle was actually his boss, but Barrack successfully convinced her to go out on a date with him. The two visited Chicago's Art Institute and saw a movie titled "Do the Right Thing." The two were eventually married on Oct. 3, 1992.
In an interview, Barrack recalled his first date with Michelle: "I took her to this new movie that everybody was talking about, directed by a guy that not that many people had heard of, but it was supposed to be pretty good."
Michelle recalled: "We clicked right away ...by the end of the date it was over...I was sold."
Richard Tanna will direct the movie and write the screenplay as well. Stephanie Allain and Tracey Bing are the producers. Filming will start in Chicago in July next year.
Tracey said she and Stephanie are excited to produce a "smart and timeless film that sheds light on one of the great love stories of our time."
"Richard really captures the essence of that romantic connection between Barack and Michelle that is so evident in the way that they look at each other. We are looking forward to finding the perfect Barack," she added.
