The mysterious "A" character in ABC's "Pretty Little Liars" is expected to be revealed even before the show's Christmas special on Dec. 9 this year.

News has it that although Christmas is definitely coming to Rosewood, it may not be one of the happiest for the liars.

For fans, "Pretty Little Liars" being renewed for another two seasons was definitely a treat. But many are wondering how long will the show be able to keep its fans interested about the "A" mystery, which has been circulating since the beginning of the season.

ABC's synopsis for the Christmas episode, entitled "How the "A" Stole Christmas," reads: "Christmas is quickly approaching, and all of Rosewood is full of merriment, except for Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer, who aren't feeling much holiday cheer after the loss of Mona and Spencer's murder charge looming over them."

"Pretty Little Liars" Executive Producer Marlene King commented on the issue about fans having to wait till the end of Season 7 before the mysterious "A" character is revealed. She acknowledged that fans might have gotten "a little worried" when they found out about the show being renewed until its seventh season.

Asked about whether fans have to wait that long, Marlene replied, "I am promising you that you don't."

She then underscored: "The identity of Big 'A' is going to be revealed before Season Seven starts."

Now that's saying something. The Christmas special is a bittersweet change to the series of Halloween episodes during the last seasons.

Meanwhile, a promo video for the Christmas special was released recently. The opening scene is a shoot of Rosewood all covered in snow, with Emily telling her peers to make a Christmas wish and Hanna saying, "Wishes don't come true, Emily."

The next scenes show Spencer in a gown while holding a kitchen knife, and Toby being warned to take care of himself, because he "can't trust anyone."

The next scenes show Paige, and then Alison looking scared and vulnerable, banging a door.

The video ends with Mona's voice saying, "It's Christmas and I promise you don't want to miss it." Indeed.
