'Pretty Little Liars' season 7 cast news, spoilers: New character joins series; No happily ever after for 'Ezria'?
The last episode of "Pretty Little Liars" season 7 saw Ezra down on one knee and proposing marriage to Aria. The episode ended on a cliffhanger, and now fans are waiting with bated breath for Aria's answer.
However, according to showrunner Marlene King, a proposal doesn't necessarily mean that Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) would end up together.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, King said with so many secrets between the two lovebirds, it would be impossible for them to sustain a lasting relationship, much more a marriage. Apparently, the lack of honesty between them could take a toll on their relationship, which fans who have been following the show would agree has been rocky from the start.
"There are some reasons why she doesn't feel like she's been completely honest with him, like the death of Elliott Rollins and that they buried that body, so her hesitation is really about that," King said.
"Like, 'How can I say yes if I haven't told him the truth about everything?'"
King said regardless if Aria says yes to the proposal, the obstacles that loom before them are too big to ignore.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Shane Coffey would be reprising his role as Holden Strauss in "Pretty Little Liars" season 7. The character would be returning in the second half of the show.
Loyal viewers of the series would recall Holden as Aria's childhood friend and former love interest, and their storyline was heavily tackled in season 2 of the series. He even willfully entered a fake relationship with Aria to hide her relationship with Ezra.
It remains to be seen if Coffey's return to "Pretty Little Liars" would affect Aria's relationship with Ezra, as well as her decision to accept the latter's proposal.
In related news, the upcoming episode titled "Wanted: Dead or Alive" would see Ezra facing a tough time as he deals with an "awkward relationship." In the same episode, the Liars would also start doubting if Elliot Rollins (Huw Collins) did die when they ran him over.
"Pretty Little Liars" season 7 airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on Freeform. Check out the promo trailer for episode 6 below.
