'Pretty Little Liars' Spoilers, Recap: Alison Is Arrested But 'A' Fireworks Proves Ominous

The premiere episode of "Pretty Little Liars" aired on Tuesday at 8/7c after the holiday hiatus. It saw Alison (Sasha Pieterse) arrested for the murder of Mona (Janel Parrish). Just as the girls thought they had got "A" in jail, there was a fireworks display that spelled "A" in red, proving that their eternal enemy was still out there.

The episode kicked off with the four friends Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Aria (Lucy Hale) and Shay (Emily Fields) attending the funeral for Mona. Just as they felt that Alison would not turn up, she did. Alison then got slapped by Mona's mom who demanded to know where her daughter's body was.

The four friends decided to help Spencer who was out on bail for murder. They assumed that since Alison was the "A," she was responsible for the murder that was pinned on Spencer. They then dismantled Alison's alibi by getting her brother to reveal that she was not with him and their father during Thanksgiving dinner.

However, when Aria took Mona's hard drive with crucial information to the Brew, "A" cornered her and stapled her into the plastic sheeting with a nail gun. Even though Aria managed to escape, "A" fled with the hard drive.

Spencer and Emily, meanwhile, broke into Mona's house to plant evidence. There they discovered that Mona had installed secret cameras. One of the cameras installed in an air vent captured a blonde-haired assailant attacking Mona. This evidence was then presented to the police who then arrived and arrested Alison.

During her arrest, Alison warned Spencer, Hanna, Aria and Shay that she was not "A" and that they would be targeted next. The episode closed with Alison in a cell while the four friends looked on as a huge red "A" turned up in a fireworks display. Later, they saw the fireworks directly aimed at them.
