PlayStation Plus September 2016 free games list news & predictions: 'Watch Dogs' included? PS Plus membership fee increase announced

There are both good news and bad news for Playstation Plus members.

First off, it sounds like the titles for the September 2016 PlayStation Plus free games list will include some prestigious games, much more so than in previous months.

According to Game n Guide, there has been much talk about Sony releasing a lineup of triple-A titles in the coming month to make up for the disappointing August 2016 free game offerings. Playstation Plus members were reportedly disappointed with the games given out for free in August as they were all from independent developers.

Various media sources are now saying that the PlayStation Plus free games list for September 2016 will likely include "Watch Dogs," the open world action/adventure third-person shooter video game released by Ubisoft in 2014.

"Watch Dogs" has been a massive commercial success, taking the record for the biggest first-day sales out of all Ubisoft games. Rumors that the popular game will be included in the PlayStation Plus free games list have been circulating for some time, and with "Watch Dogs 2" scheduled to come out in November, it seems likely that Ubisoft could make the game available for PlayStation Plus subscribers to get them excited for the sequel.

Apart from "Watch Dogs," Game n Guide notes that fans are also hoping for the inclusion of popular video games "South Park: The Stick of Truth," "Driver: San Francisco," and "LEGO Batman: Beyond Gotham."

Meanwhile, PlayStation Plus memberships will cost more beginning Sept. 22.

Earlier this week, Sony announced that the price increase will affect subscribers in the United States and Canada. From Sept. 22, PlayStation Plus memberships in the U.S. will change to $59.99 (from $49.99) for 12 months and $24.99 (from $16.99) for three months. In Canada, it will be $69.99 CAD for an annual membership and $29.99 CAD for a three-month subscription. Monthly plans in the U.S. will remain at $9.99. In Canada, they change to $11.99 CAD a month.

According to Sony, the new subscription fees will take effect if the member's current membership plans renew on or after Sept. 22.

The announcement also advised those who wish to discontinue their subscription to cancel it by turning off the auto-renewal setting before the said date.
