PS4.5 Neo news and updates: Powerful console will share game titles with regular PS4 unit?
Reports about the upcoming PlayStation 4.5 Neo have been pretty rampant nowadays. Many gaming fans are excited for the new upgraded console to finally hit the shelves. However, PlayStation 4 owners are a little worried that their console might become obsolete with the arrival of the new one.
It was already reported that Sony has mentioned that PlayStation 4 owners need not worry since all games suitable for PlayStation 4.5 Neo will still work on PS4.
In a report by PC Advisor, Paul Reines, the CEO of Sony, recently announced during an interview that the highly anticipated PlayStation 4.5 Neo will be launched in September. Prior to the announcement, Sony Interactive president Andrew House mentioned that whatever works for the new console will also work for the basic PS4 unit.
"It is intended to sit alongside and compliment the standard PS4" and that "we will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle."
The publication added that players will be given an option to upgrade their new PS4.5 Neo to achieve 4K output for better gaming experience. The new upgrade will be compatible with the current and future PS4 titles.
Meanwhile, according to Giant Bomb, PS4.5 Neo will definitely run faster than its predecessor at 2.1 GHz. It will also sport an all new graphic technology with the addition of AMD running at 36 CUs with a speed of 911 MHz. The current PS4 has a memory that runs at 176 GB/s, while the upcoming PS4.5 will carry a memory that could process at 218 GB/s.
There is no question that the newer console will come out faster than its predecessor. However, the new one will certainly be more expensive than the older console.
Other makers are also planning to release their own upgraded version of their consoles. There are reports saying that Microsoft is gearing up for the launching of Xbox One S and Xbox Scorpio. On the other hand, Nintendo will soon release the new NX.
